The Diary of an American Au Pair - Marjorie Leet Ford

An Edward R. Hamilton buy, I was totally disappointed by the little words on the cover saying, “Originally published as Do Try to Speak as We Do.” I read it a couple of years ago.
However, I plunged in anyway, which was good because I barely remembered it. It was fun, a la The Nanny Diaries and that whole little Nanny movement that was so popular a few years ago. Our heroine loses her copywriting job and heads across the pond to be a nanny to a Member of Parliament. The mother in the family is a nightmare, the father nice but ineffectual–but she truly loves the children. And of course, the novel is about Melissa’s journey of self-discovery and is replete with eccentric British characters.
