Two Coats Down

They’ll be putting the third — and final — coat down today. We should be able to move back in tomorrow night. Because it’s so wet, probably won’t move furniture back in until the weekend.

Wow, your floors look great! Is your house a Craftsman? We will be lifting the carpet on our new place this Sunday if all goes well with closing on time. My husband & his old boss are re-doing the floors by themselves. I feel utterly useless & am going to leave it up to them as they refinished the floors of the Mandalay Cafe many a time. God, I hope ours aren’t blue!!! I have no idea what color stain to use, but from what you’re saying, the condition of the floor will help determine the shade.

Looks like you found a great house with great neighbors. Lucky you! Ours is a 1944 Cape Cod & we’re going to have to work to put some charm into it… It doesn’t have all those cool built-ins & coved archways but tacky Brady Bunch popcorn ceilings & such. We’ve got ourselves a real project! The thing that sold us was the mammoth lot (almost 7,000 sq ft) & the fact that the place has 4 bedrooms, two-stories. We were looking at homes around 800 sq ft in other places for the same price. Neighbors? Remains to be seen. The people next door have a lot of ceramic roosters pecking arond their yard… I suppose it would be worse if they were real!

Good luck with closing–always stressful. Lucky you, with all that space. We’re at just a hair over 1000 sq ft. Yes, our house is a craftsman bungalow, but it was a cheap one. And very few of our projects are done. The bathroom is a horrible mess and the kitchen is only a shade better. Steve works in construction, so we’re the cobbler’s children; he refuses to pay people to do work he can do himself, yet doesn’t want to do the work. As for me, I’ve come to the conclusion that in order to be a truly liberated woman, one must recognize that there are certain things that one has no interest in being liberated about. Most home repairs fall under that category for me. :-)
