A Movable Feast
by Zia ~ November 21st, 2006. Filed under: Ephemera, Travel.Steve and I have rented a cabin on the shores of Soap Lake for the long holiday weekend, arriving around noon on Thanksgiving Day. Which, of course, leads to the question of how to cook a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. I think we should be okay if we get a super-small bird. The question is, what is the smallest turkey you can get?

Brine the small bird starting the night before and on the way there. Then you can crank the heat and still have it moist and tasty…
Suggestion: Lynne’s Fast and Crisp Roast Turkey Scented with Apple and Basil

I got a 5.5 lb bird — perfect size! What are you up to for T-day?

Cornish hens are great. Not a lot of leftovers….

My problem is that I’m not a very good cook. The last two times I encountered a game hen, it burned to a crisp. How do you get those little suckers NOT to burn?
