On Accounting
by Zia ~ January 5th, 2007. Filed under: Exigencies.I hate doing the books. I barely understand how to do the books. And I really, really don’t understand the $3,657.32 discrepancy between my bank account and QuickBooks.
My head hurts.

Don’t even get me started. God how I fear and despise tax time. I’m not bothered by actually paying them, weirdly enough, but figuring them out is nearly the death of me each year. At least you’re as far as figuring discrepancies (hope that’s sorted out by now, incidentally); today I’m sorting through papers just getting ready to run the numbers. Add into that switching insurances and this should be a really fabulous and fun January. Bleah. Good luck to you!

I have completely given up on doing my own taxes; I use an accountant and can\’t recommend it highly enough. He takes one look at my papers, tells me I need to \”entertain\” more, and handles the whole shebang in about two seconds.
I think I have figured out the discrepancy. I recently changed banks for both my personal and business accounts, and it\’s led to all sorts of duct tape fixes in my accounting. Which I don\’t understand in the first place. ARGH. Good luck to you on figuring out insurances and receipts and deductions. Oh MY!
