On Hating Valentine’s Day

Well, the title says it all, doesn’t it?

Still, credit must go to nonanon, who is wresting some meaning out of this beknighted day. It’s all about love affairs … with the written word. Sure, books can’t buy you chocolate. But they don’t line the coffers of Hallmark either.

Hell, I can buy me chocolate. Books and chocolate. We’re good to go. My favorite thing this time of year is watching what animated crap Hallmark’s comes up with (oh, the tiger with ze French accent, they’ve topped themselves this year!). I do love the way they force you to buy 3 cards (probably at 3-4 bucks a pop) and only then will they let you buy the stuffed animal for the low low price of 9.95. And they make you feel like it’s a deal! Genius. Pure, evil, chutzpah-filled genius.

oh, and glad you’re back, by the way. Yesterday’s travel journal that you posted made me hurt for you. You must have been weary indeed when you were done with all that.

Hey nonanon! It’s great to be back and able to post comments again! Regarding the traveling, one just reaches a state where one doesn’t care anymore. And the silver lining was that I got home at midnight, went to sleep, woke up the next morning … and sayonara jet lag!

Buying chocolates … that’s a good idea. I think I need to buy myself some truffles–mainly to fortify myself for all the book reviews I’m behind on. I read The Lost Painting on the plane. It was FAB. The only great thing about V day, though, is all the stuffed animals they get rid of after the evil day. I buy a couple for the dog as chew toys.
