I’m surprised to find myself really looking forward to 7, and entertaining the idea of switching back from a Mac to a PC. Although I’ve heard if you buy a Mac and load Win7 on it, it runs great.
You can definitely configure the taskbar to show the time in previous versions of Windows. I know it works in Vista because I’m looking at it, but I think it dates earlier than that. You can either make your task bar fat enough to see the date or drag it to be vertical instead of horizontal.
I like that too but I would have to say my favorite is click the start orb and just typing in what you are looking for. If I type ‘word’ and hit enter MS Word starts up. If I need to find a file with the word ‘bonazarama’ in it, I just type and it is found…quickly. So good I have deleted my old friend that was almost as good – Google desktop search bar.
